Syntypes: (55) CAS 47167 [ex IU 17343] (37), CAS-SU 24660 [ex IU 17343] (3), UMMZ 66505 (14), USNM 117544 [ex UMMZ 66505, orig. IU 17343] (1). Plus additional material. Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:24 [ref. 12291], Vari & Howe 1991:26 [ref. 19022]. First appeared as ellisi; named after Mrs. Marion Durbin Ellis, the correct species epithet would be ellisae. Not to be corrected (ICZN). •Valid as Bryconacidnus ellisi (Pearson 1924) -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:7 [ref. 9708], Pavanelli in Reis et al. 2003:115 [ref. 27061], Baicere-Silva et al. 2011:381 [ref. 31395], Barriga Salazar 2014:106 [ref. 35745], Sarmiento et al. 2014:184 [ref. 35004], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893]). Current status: Valid as Bryconacidnus ellisi (Pearson 1924). Characidae: Stevardiinae. Distribution: South America: upper Amazon River basin: Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. Habitat: freshwater.
