Lectotype selected by Boeseman 1947:84 [ref. 12876]. •Valid as Chaetodontoplus septentrionalis (Temminck & Schlegel 1844) -- (Allen 1980:250 [ref. 22764] with author as Schlegel, Araga in Masuda et al. 1984:187 [ref. 6441], Pyle in Randall & Lim 2000:624 [ref. 25122], Nakabo 2000:900 [ref. 25182], Sadovy & Cornish 2000:175 [ref. 25480], Shimizu 2001:32 [ref. 25799], Pyle 2001:3282 [ref. 26118], Nakabo 2002:900 [ref. 26193], Choi et al. 2003:354, 625 [ref. 26218] as Chaetodonplus, Kim et al. 2020:143 [ref. 39118], Sonoyama et al. 2020:79 [ref. 37637], Murase et al. 2023:40 [ref. 40935]). Current status: Valid as Chaetodontoplus septentrionalis (Temminck & Schlegel 1844). Pomacanthidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Thailand, Vietnam and southern China north to Korea and Japan. Hybridizes with Chaetodontoplus melanosoma (Bleeker 1853). Habitat: marine.
