fenestratus, Blennius Forster [J. R.] in Bloch & Schneider 1801:173 [M. E. Blochii, Systema Ichthyologiae; ref. 471] Detention Cove, Dusky Sound, Fiordland, South Island, New Zealand. Holotype (unique): not preserved. Authorship follows Fricke 1994:17 [ref. 21827]. Based on description in manuscript by Forster (Johann Reinhold Forster, 1729-1798, German explorer and naturalist of Cook's second voyage). •Valid as Notoclinus fenestratus (Forster 1801) -- (Paulin et al. 1989:219 [ref. 24556], Paulin & Roberts 1992:86 [ref. 24625], Fricke 1994:507 [ref. 21827], Fricke 1997:584 [ref. 23339], Jawad & Clements 2004:86 [ref. 27725], Fricke 2009:32 [ref. 30394], Patzner et al. 2009:448 [ref. 30396], Stewart & Clements 2015:1520 [ref. 34299]). Current status: Valid as Notoclinus fenestratus (Forster 1801). Tripterygiidae: Notoclininae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: New Zealand region. Habitat: marine.
