macrocephalus, Clinus Günther [A.] 1861:266 [Catalogue of the fishes in the British Museum v. 3; ref. 1964] Cape San Lucas, Baja California to Bay of Panama. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1861.8.13.7. Non-types: ZMB 5421 (1). Also appeared as new in Günther 1862:373 [4] [ref. 1968]. •Valid as Mnierpes macrocephalus (Günther 1861) -- (Allen & Robertson 1994:234 [ref. 22193], Hastings in Fischer et al. 1995:1014 [ref. 22829], Thomson et al. 2000:218 [ref. 25640], Love et al. 2005:155 [ref. 37547]). •Valid as Dialommus macrocephalus (Günther 1861) -- (McCosker et al. 2003:158 [ref. 26739], Nelson et al. 2004:162 [ref. 27807], Patzner et al. 2009:462 [ref. 30396], Hastings & Springer 2009:10 [ref. 31156], Page et al. 2013:169 [ref. 32708], Love et al. 2021:197 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Dialommus macrocephalus (Günther 1861). Labrisomidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern tip of Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to Colombia. Habitat: marine.
