Holotype: AMS IB.3217. Paratypes: AMS IB.3218 (1), WAM P.3681-001 to P.3686-001 (1 ea.). Plus additional material. Type catalog: Hutchins & Smith 1991:46 [ref. 19335], Moore et al. 2008:53 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Polyspina piosae (Whitley 1955) -- (Hardy 1983:42 [ref. 5341], Gomon et al. 1994:910 [ref. 22532], Kuiter 1997:416 [ref. 25488], Hutchins 2001:48 [ref. 25847], Hoese et al. 2006:1924 [ref. 29099], Matsuura 2008:854 [ref. 30661], Hoschke et al. 2019:161 [ref. 36626]). Current status: Valid as Polyspina piosae (Whitley 1955). Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean: Western Australia, South Australia. Habitat: marine.
