isabella, Squalus Bonnaterre [J. P.] (ex Broussonet) 1788:6 [Tableau encyclopédique et méthodique des trois règnes de la nature... Ichthyologie; ref. 4940] Southwestern Pacific. Holotype: apparently lost. Based on 'L'Isabelle' of Broussonet 1780:648 [ref. 20282]. Isabella is treated as a noun in apposition, originally spelled with a capital I (see Kullander 2016:112 [ref. 34147]). •Possible the same as Cephaloscyllium laticeps (Duméril 1853) -- (White 2008:63 [ref. 30617]). •Valid as Cephaloscyllium isabella (Bonnaterre 1788) (spelled isabellum by authors) -- (Compagno 1984:298 [ref. 6846], Paulin et al. 1989:21 [ref. 24556], Nakaya in Amaoka et al. 1990:60 [ref. 16024], Senou & Masuda 1998:5 [ref. 24388], Compagno 1999:479 [ref. 25589], Inoue & Nakaya 2006:86 [ref. 28852], Last et al. 2008:147 [ref. 29683], Schaaf-Da Silva & Ebert 2008:21 [ref. 29807], Nakaya et al. 2015:78 [ref. 34218] as isabellum, Weigmann 2016:37 [ref. 34211] as isabellum, Soares & Carvalho 2020:379 [ref. 37593]). Current status: Valid as Cephaloscyllium isabella (Bonnaterre 1788). Scyliorhinidae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: Australia and New Zealand. Limited to New Zealand [ref. 34218]. Habitat: marine.
