Syntypes: ZIN 2328-29 (2, 1) Lake Balkhash. •Valid as Nemacheilus strauchii (Kessler 1874) -- (Berg 1949:851 [ref. 20661] as Nemachilus stauchi). •Valid as Noemacheilus strauchi (Kessler 1874), as a valid subspecies strauchi -- (Mitrofanov & Dukravec 1989:34 [ref. 37748]). •Valid as Triplophysa strauchii (Kessler 1874) -- (Zhu 1989:93 [ref. 17744], Wu & Wu 1992:186 [ref. 21205], Zhu 1995:115 [ref. 25213], Prokofiev 2002:S45 [ref. 27462], Kottelat 2006:89 [ref. 28831], Prokofiev 2006:258 [ref. 29061], Prokofiev 2010:895 [ref. 31096], Kottelat 2012:131 [ref. 32367], Zhang et al. 2016:144 [ref. 34477], Sheraliev & Peng 2021:10 [ref. 38329], Sheraliev & Kayumova 2022:36 [ref. 39437], Sheraliev et al. 2022:62 [ref. 39759], Chen et al. 2023:9 [ref. 40668]). Current status: Valid as Triplophysa strauchii (Kessler 1874). Nemacheilidae. Distribution: Northern-central Asia: Balkhash and upper Syr Darya basin, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and middle and upper Hei River basin, China. Introduced in northern China. Habitat: freshwater.
