Not secondarily preoccupied by Discognathus imberbis Vinciguerra 1890 (see Kottelat 1998:33 [ref. 23436]). •Synonym of Garra pingi (Tchang 1929) -- (Wu et al. 1977:373 [ref. 4807], Ding 1994:357 [ref. 21531], Zhang et al. in Yue 2000:247 [ref. 25272]). •Valid as Garra imberba Garman 1912, with pingi the synonym -- (Kottelat 1998:33 [ref. 23436], Zhang & Chen 2002:463 [ref. 26897], Zhou et al. 2005:450 [ref. 28432], Li et al. 2008:62 [ref. 29588], Chen et al. 2009:439 [ref. 30322], Zhang & Zhou 2012:23 [ref. 32322] as imbera, Kottelat 2013:105 [ref. 32989], Vilasri et al. 2014:24 [ref. 33693], Wang et al. 2014:30 [ref. 36012], Zhang et al. 2016:110 [ref. 34477], Sun et al. 2018:68 [ref. 35784], Zhang et al. 2019:283 [ref. 36699], Guo 2021:382 [ref. 38617]). •Valid as Ageneiogarra imberba (Garman 1912) -- (Mai 1978:50 [ref. 13511], Yang et al. 2012:370 [ref. 33458], Tangjitjaroen et al. 2023:388 [ref. 40278]). Current status: Valid as Ageneiogarra imberba (Garman 1912). Cyprinidae: Labeoninae. Distribution: East Asia: Jinshajiang, Nanpanjiang, Red, Lancangjiang River basins and Hainan Island, China. Habitat: freshwater.
