Type catalog: Bertin & Estève 1948:10 [ref. 19574], Monkolprasit 1969:11 [ref. 25088]. Appeared without description in Bleeker 1865:197 [ref. 17029] and Bleeker 1865:176 [ref. 413]. Lectotype selected by Bănărescu 1978:114, fig. 2 [ref. 36231]. Kottelat 2013:147 [ref. 32989] declared it a nomen protectum in relation to Barbus carassioides. •Valid as Puntioplites proctozysron (Bleeker 1864) -- (Chen & Huang 1977:397 [ref. 8497], Bănărescu 1978:114 [ref. 36231], Zhou in Chu & Chen 1989:323 [ref. 13584], Zhu 1995:96 [ref. 25213], Rainboth 1996:93 [ref. 22772], Doi 1997:10 [ref. 22832], Vu & Nguyen 1997:26 [ref. 26438] as protozysron, Yue & Chen 1998:164 [ref. 26415], Freyhof et al. 2000:95 [ref. 25184], Luo & Yue in Yue 2000:392 [ref. 25272], Kottelat 2001:72 [ref. 25780], Kottelat 2013:148 [ref. 32989], Taki et al. 2021:112 [ref. 39830]). •Synonym of Puntioplites falcifer Smith 1929 -- (Zhang et al. 2016:97 [ref. 34477]). Current status: Valid as Puntioplites proctozysron (Bleeker 1864). Cyprinidae: Cyprininae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Malay Peninsula to Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
