Syntypes: (several) BMNH 1903.4.24.36-40 (5), 1903.4.24.41 (1, skeleton); USNM 50955 (1). •Valid as Tilapia busumana (Günther 1903) -- (Teugels & Thys van den Audenaerde 1991:484 [ref. 20943], Teugels & Thys van den Audenaerde in Lévêque et al. 1992:745 [ref. 21590], Dankwa et al. 1999:47 [ref. 28023], Dunz & Schliewen 2010:2 [ref. 30890], Dunz & Schliewen 2013:75 [ref. 32672]). Current status: Valid as Tilapia busumana (Günther 1903). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: West-central Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
