Lectotype designation by Brewster 1986:197 [ref. 8104]. •Valid as Hydrocynus goliath Boulenger 1898 -- (Paugy 1984:171 [ref. 6183], Brewster 1986:197 [ref. 8104], Munene et al. 2021:22 [ref. 39283]). Current status: Valid as Hydrocynus goliath Boulenger 1898. Alestidae. Distribution: Central Africa: central and upper Congo River system (Democratic Republic of Congo). Habitat: freshwater.
