Type catalog: Ibarra & Stewart 1987:19 [ref. 12367], Vari & Howe 1991:9 [ref. 19022]. •Valid as Brycon obscurus Hildebrand 1938 -- (Howes 1982:36 [ref. 14201], Lima in Reis et al. 2003:177 [ref. 27061], Angulo & Gracian-Negrete 2013:263 [ref. 32959]). Current status: Valid as Brycon obscurus Hildebrand 1938. Bryconidae: Bryconinae. Distribution: Pacific and Atlantic slope of Panama. Habitat: freshwater.
