Current status: Valid as Myloplus schomburgkii (Jardine 1841). Serrasalmidae: Myleinae. Distribution: South America: middle and lower Amazon River basin, Xingu River, Nanay River, upper Orinoco River basin (Brazil, Colombia, Peru, ?Suriname, and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
