Syntypes: (at least 13) BMNH 1853.12.27.15 (6), 2012.8.1.1-2 (2), 2012.8.1.3 (skeleton). •Valid as Belontia signata (Günther 1861) -- (Vierke 1986:62 [ref. 36452], Vierke 1988:91 [ref. 36453], Roberts 1989:171 [ref. 6439], Pethiyagoda 1991:261 [ref. 20075], Talwar & Jhingran 1991:999 [ref. 20764], Britz & Cambray 2001:280 [ref. 25647]). Current status: Valid as Belontia signata (Günther 1861). Osphronemidae: Belontiinae. Distribution: Sri Lanka. Habitat: freshwater.
