Hamilton's original illustration reproduced by Britz 2019:Pl. 156 [ref. 37532]. •Synonym of Barilius bendelisis (Hamilton 1807) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:346 [ref. 20764], Menon 1999:14 [ref. 24904], Ataur Rahman 2003:114 [ref. 31338] as cosca, Nath et al. 2010:29 [ref. 33488]). •Synonym of Barilius bendelisis, but a valid variety cosca [sic] -- (Ataur Rahman 2003:115 [ref. 31338]). •Valid as Opsarius cocsa (Hamilton 1822) -- (Kullander et al. 1999:152 [ref. 23689], Bleher 2018:614 [ref. 36647], Moyon & Arunkumar 2019:5 [ref. 37054]). Current status: Valid as Opsarius cocsa (Hamilton 1822). Danionidae: Chedrinae. Distribution: Himalaya Foothills, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Habitat: freshwater.
