Appeared first as name only in Agassiz 1835:39 [ref. 22]. •Synonym of Vimba vimba (Linnaeus 1758), but a valid subspecies -- (Lelek 1987:243 [ref. 22962]). •Synonym of Vimba vimba (Linnaeus 1758), subspecies carinata (Pallas 1814) -- (Uiblein & Winkler 1994 [ref. 21823]). •Valid as Vimba elongata (Valenciennes 1844) -- (Kottelat 1997:85 [ref. 22952]). •Synonym of Vimba vimba (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Bogutskaya 1998:73 [ref. 23589], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:291 [ref. 29996] with remarks, Çiçek et al. 2024:266 [ref. 40789]) Current status: Synonym of Vimba vimba (Linnaeus 1758). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Habitat: freshwater.
