Lectotype: BMNH 1909.3.4.42. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1909.3.4.43-51 (orig. 16, now 15), USNM 157372 [ex BMNH 1909.3.4.50-51] (2). Type catalog: Springer et al. 1991:16 [ref. 18888] as nativitatus. Lectotype designated by Smith-Vaniz & Springer 1971:33 [ref. 4145]. Habitat: marine.
