Lectotype: whereabouts unknown. Based on Squalus varius of Seba 1759:105, Pl. 34 (fig. 1); in Latin only in table. Lectotype selected by Fricke 1999:13 [ref. 24106] as the specimen represented in Seba's 1759, Pl. 34, fig 1.
