perruno, Perrunichthys Schultz [L. P.] 1944:230, Pl. 3 (fig. B); Fig. 3 [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 94 (no. 3172); ref. 3959] Río Negro, below River Yasa mouth, about 75 kilometers south of Rosario, western side of Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela. Holotype: USNM 121189. Paratypes: USNM 121200 (1). Type catalog: Ferraris & Vari 1992:34 [ref. 19771], Ferraris 2007:335 [ref. 29155]. •Valid as Perrunichthys perruno Schultz 1944 -- (Burgess 1989:282 [ref. 12860], Galvis et al. 1997:63 [ref. 23651], Fuller et al. 1999:216 [ref. 25838], Lundberg & Littmann in Reis et al. 2003:438 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:336 [ref. 29155]). •Valid as Leiarius perruno (Schultz 1944) -- (Lundberg et al. 2011:169 [ref. 31593], Reis et al. 2016:16 [ref. 34496], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:93 [ref. 35633]). Current status: Valid as Leiarius perruno (Schultz 1944). Pimelodidae. Distribution: Lake Maracaibo basin: Colombia and Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
