cervus, Etheostoma Powers [S. L.] & Mayden [R. L.] 2003:577, Fig. 2 (bottom) [Copeia 2003 (no. 3); ref. 27129] Clarks Creek, 8 kilometers northeast of Henderson at Holly Springs Road, Chester County, Tennessee, U.S.A., 35°29.891'N, 88°35.238'W. Holotype: UAIC 13201. Paratypes: INHS 39394 (5), UAIC 13205.07 (7), UMMZ 168524 (28). Unfortuately, the authors segregate some specimens as "paratotypes" -- a term not included in the code. It is clear from the text that they meant them to be paratypes. •Valid as Etheostoma cervus Powers & Mayden 2003 -- (Nelson et al. 2004:132 [ref. 27807], Powers & Warren 2009:523 [ref. 30383], Scharpf 2008:23 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:556 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:136 [ref. 32708], Kozal et al. 2017:280 [ref. 35621]). Current status: Valid as Etheostoma cervus Powers & Mayden 2003. Percidae: Etheostomatinae. Distribution: Western Tennessee, U.S.A. Habitat: freshwater.
