Holotype: MHNG 2621-040. Paratypes: MHNG 2621.039 (4), 2621.044 (2), 2626.013 (9); MNHN 2002.1625 (1); MZUSP 65404 (1); NZCS F7048 (1); USNM 369732 (1). Plus non-type material. Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:130 [ref. 29155]. •Valid as Pseudocetopsis orientale Vari, Ferraris & Keith 2003. •Valid as Cetopsidium orientale (Vari, Ferraris & Keith 2003) -- (Vari et al. 2005:141 [ref. 28270], de Pinna et al. 2007:802 [ref. 29247], Ferraris 2007:130 [ref. 29155], Vari & Ferraris 2009:290 [ref. 30494], Brosse et al. 2019:134 [ref. 38320]). Current status: Valid as Cetopsidium orientale (Vari, Ferraris & Keith 2003). Cetopsidae: Cetopsinae. Distribution: South America: Atlantic coastal rivers (French Guiana and Suriname). Habitat: freshwater.
