Holotype (unique): TMH D154/13139 [old no. 3079] (dry, mounted skin). Type catalog: Andrews 1971:1 [ref. 31471], Andrews 1992:109 [ref. 22689]. The identical species description, evidently written by Ogilby, appeared in Morton 1894:211 [ref. 14557]. •Valid as Oxynotus bruniensis (Ogilby 1893) -- (Compagno 1984:125 [ref. 6474], Paxton et al. 1989:36 [ref. 12442], Paulin et al. 1989:17 [ref. 24556], Yano in Amaoka et al. 1990:74 [ref. 16024], Gomon et al. 1994:111 [ref. 22532], Last & Stevens 1994:104 [ref. 23873], Compagno 1999:474 [ref. 25589], Hutchins 2001:15 [ref. 25847], Yano & Matsuura 2002:109 [ref. 26346], Yano et al. 2002:363 [ref. 26798], Azevedo et al. 2003:117 [ref. 27250], Hoese & Gates 2006:147 [ref. 28997], White 2008:94 [ref. 30617], Last et al. 2015:167 [ref. 34230], Weigmann 2016:62 [ref. 34211]). Current status: Valid as Oxynotus bruniensis (Ogilby 1893). Oxynotidae. Distribution: Australia and New Zealand. Habitat: marine.
