Description 1st-Phase Navajo-style Chief’s blanket, woven in tapestry weave, with an overall pattern of alternating plain white and natural dark brown/black bands; Three exceptions to the design are the top and bottom bands, both of which are natural dark brown/black but which also contain two narrower dark blue bands, and the middle band which is the width of approx. three of the other bands and which contains four of the dark blue bands on the natural dark brown/black background; Twining and selvage cords are woven of matching and contrasting dark blue yarns, respectively.

Description 3rd-Phase Navajo-style Chief’s blanket, woven in tapestry weave, with a typical 9-spot design layout consisting of a large red terraced diamond with Spider Woman’s cross in the center, and a similar half diamond located at the top and bottom center of the blanket and a quarter diamond in each of the corners; The quarter diamonds differ in that they contain a series of parallel blue lines instead of the cross; All of these design motifs are positioned along wide horizontal bands that, in turn, are composed of alternating natural dark brown/black and dark blue bands, with the latter outlined in bright red; Areas between these design bands are filled with alternating white and natural brown/black bands which actually form the overall background; Twining and selvage cords are woven of matching and contrasting dark blue yarns, respectively; This blanket is copied after an historic blanket in the collection of the Museum of Northern Arizona (catalog # E9282).

Description Piñon Navajo-style rug, woven entirely in tapestry weave; Central design consists of paired and joined concentric terraced diamonds in colors of white, gray, yellow-green, and light brown, all on a medium gray background; Rug is framed on all four sides by a wide yellow-green border that is embellished with a continuous row of black and white “H’ shapes that are lying on their sides; Twining and selvage cords are woven of matching yellow-green wool rug yarns; This rug design is copied (at reduced scale) from a rug four times this size that was woven in area of Piñon, AZ and which belonged to a friend of Margaret and Tony Shuffrey.
