Description Small round plate with shallow, upward curving and flaring sides; Interior and exterior surfaces are scraped smooth and slipped white; Design on the interior consists of center rectangular motif comprising spiral of solid and terraced triangles within negative, asymmetrical 4-point star; Surrounding off-center and asymmetrical quadrants are painted either with hatch-lined and solid triangles or with a single hatch-lined triangle; Signature "Lucy M. Lewis, Acoma, NM" is printed in black lettering on underside. Noted Acoma potter Lucy Martin Lewis is the mother of grandmother of many well-known potters. She is the mother of Anne Lewis Hansen and the mother-in-law of Rita Lewis, both of whose works are also represented in the CAS pottery

Lewis, Acoma, NM" is printed in black lettering on underside. Noted Acoma potter Lucy Martin Lewis is the mother of grandmother of many well-known potters. M.” is printed in black lettering on base, but otherwise, plate is unsigned.
