Description Miniature deep round bowl with flat base and rounded sides that rise steeply to a wide mouth; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth and interior is lightly polished; Both interior and exterior are coated with white slip; Heavy black line is painted along lip, extending just slightly over the exterior and forming a framing line; Just below this framing line, but not touching it, are two black triangles, each containing a negative image of kiva stairs and a kiva ladder; Signature “ANNE LEWIS Acoma, N.M.” is printed in black slip on base. Anne Lewis Hansen was the daughter of noted Acoma potter Lucy Martin Lewis, and the sister-in-law of Rita Lewis, both of whose works are also represented in the CAS pottery collection.

Description Small round canteen probably made in two halves that are joined together around sides, with short constricted neck added at top and two perforations have been made on either side of the neck to allow for carrying strap; Exterior surfaces of canteen are scraped smooth and covered with a white slip; Front of canteen is painted with around floral and geometric design in black and orange; Pinched seam around perimeter of canteen is painted orange on both front and back, and narrow orange line encircles neck just below rim; Reverse face of canteen is undecorated.
