Description | Woman's wedding manta woven entirely in plain, balanced tapestry weave; Manta is completely undecorated except for short lengths of orange yarn that are embroidered along edge in each corner, incorporated into corner tassels; Along one long end are 4 braided ties whose ends are embroidered in manta in crow's foot pattern; Small yarn ring wrapped in orange yarn is slipped over tassel in one corner; Larger tassels with small wooden plug in their centers are attached on two corners; Double bundle of black yarn wrapped in center with white yarn represents marriage certificate, added to manta by bride's father-in-law during that year's closing Niman Katsina ceremony in July. | |
