Cylindrical snuff container carved from hollowed giraffe horn whose end has been removed; Several strings of plastic beads (red, yellow, and white) encircle container at base of its tall neck; Narrow leather band decorated with rows of beads (red, blue, yellow, and blue/white) extends up one side, over the top and down opposite side and is attached to cylindrical leather cap that fits over container's top; Length of native cordage is tied to top; Several wire-wrapped and beaded fringes and short lengths of chain with metal discs are pendant from lower sides of container; Containers of this type are carried by both men and women older than 15 years. |
