Description | Rectangular shawl worn by a woman or young girl, probably woven on a 4-stake horizontal loom; Shawl is woven longer than wide in a warp-faced plainweave technique and is entirely white except for a narrow series of parallel red and pink stripes near each side edge, which are also woven in warp-faced plainweave; All four selvages of the shawl are decorated with a crocheted border in pink and red with a scalloped edge; One face of the shawl is decorated with a border of appliquéd red cotton leaves around 3+ sides and the name “Flora Quispe” along the top. | |
