Description | Rectangular carrying cloth or over-shawl comprising two longer-than-wide panels that are seamed together down the center; Each panel is woven in warp-faced plainweave technique, alternating plainweave bands with bands that include single color supplementary warps to produce variety of geometric designs; The latter are done in dark red, light green, purple, pink, and orange; Flat joining stitch used on center seam and worked in segments of different colors; All four edges of seamed cloth are covered in a narrow warp-faced plainweave tape that is wrapped around the end and side selvages; At corners, a length of the tape extends beyond the corner and then loops back before being secured along the adjacent side, thus forming a corner fringe or tassel. | |
