Description | Rectangular blanket probably woven on handmade treadle loom and comprised of two panels that are seamed together down the center; Each panel is woven in plainweave balanced 2/2 twill technique and were possibly woven as a single length and then cut in half, as the cut warp ends have been sewn on a sewing machine to prevent fraying; Design field consists of an all-over pattern of pink stripes and bands, producing solid pink blocks, solid white blocks, and pink and white blocks in remaining areas; Stripe along center seam utilizes dark red warps instead of pink ones, and seam itself is done with a flat joining stitch in dark red yarn; Crocheted border of triangular units with scalloped outer edge frames three edges of seamed blanket; One border is done in white, one in red, and the third one mostly in red with one small section in pink. | |
