Description | Large, deep round bowl with somewhat flat base, rounded sides and everted rim with a wide somewhat flattened lip; Single flattened loop handle is attached vertically to rim of bowl and just below rim; Bowl is constructed by coiling and all surfaces have been scraped relatively smooth and then coated inside and outside with light coating of reddish-orange slip, probably applied with a rag; Exterior is marked by several irregularly shaped black fire clouds; Bowls of this type are multipurpose vessels, used for washing grain as well as one's face and hands; This one was probably made in Plateria, Puno. | |
