Description | Hair tie for a woman's braided hair, in form of a long narrow band woven of 10 strands in an oblique interlacing technique; Each end terminates in a single tassel made from doubled yarns woven into the braid and wrapped at their bases; The single tassel supports three similar tassels below it, and each of them also support another tassel, for a total of 7 tassels; Braided strand and all tassels are black; According to Teodora Mamani, her grandmother (Maria Tapari, who was nearly 100 in 1978) made this hair tie when she was a young girl) and this style of hair tie was no longer in use (in 1978) in Macusani. | |
