Description | Very large and deep round basket with flat base and widely flaring sides, woven in coiling technique over 3-rod foundation; Warp material is willow shoots and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw and include black circular area in center from which 4 zigzag columns (each composed of 3 parallel terraced zigzag lines) radiate straight outward to the rim; Areas between adjacent zigzag columns each contain a large open keystone-shaped motif enclosing a possible deer head motif; Final rim coil is woven entirely in black devil's claw. | |
