Description | Rectangular tapa cloth cut from larger cloth and made from several layers of bark that have been individually beaten flat and then overlapped to form a single cloth; Design field is divided into 12 squares (3 rows by 4 columns) with a narrow band between adjacent squares; Each square is painted with a round rosette with a central floral motif in dark brown; Floral motif is identical in first and third columns and slightly different in second column; Single continuous row of dark brown diamonds fills the border along the long side on the left edge and is also repeated in the vertical space between the second and third columns of design squares; All other vertical and horizontal borders are painted with a simpler geometric design. | |
