Description | 3-dimensional carved figure in standing position with one outstretched and one upraised arm, representing Sipikne (Zuni Warrior), who moves so rapidly when he dances that is usually impersonated by a young man; His torso and upper arms are painted black with yellow warrior markings on his chest and arms, while his forearms and legs are painted dirty yellow; He wears a carved and painted white embroidered kilt with sash belt and green yarn anklets and wristlets; Turquoise green case mask has very long tubular mouth; Black hourglass-shaped bar with red outline is painted across area of eyes; Multi-colored rosette is painted on each side of mask; Several bluebird feathers are glued to top of mask; Neck ruff is of black yarn; Figure carries several yucca leaf whips in left hand. | |
