3-dimensional carved figurine in standing position, representing Payik'ala (Three-horned Katsina), who may have originated at Zuni but who appears frequently during mixed dances in First Mesa Hopi Villages; Figure's torso is painted red while his shoulders, forearms, and legs are yellow; He wears carved and painted white kilt with sash belt and dance sash, red moccasins, black garters, and blue armbands; Case mask is red on back and blue on front, and includes red tab ears (with tin earrings), black pop-out eyes, and short black snout; Black band outlined in red is painted across eyes, and 3 conical upright horns are arranged along front top of mask; Several white down feathers are attached to top and back of mask. |
