Description |
3-dimensional carved figure in standing position, representing Kipok Katsina (War Katsina Leader); Fewkes (1903) identifies this as Tcosbuci (Turquoise Nose Plug Katsina) who is thought to be derived from a Yuman tribe such as the Walapai, who formerly wore turquoise nose ornaments; Figure's body is painted white, with his left arm and right leg also painted with horizontal dark gray bands; He wears a painted dark gray breechclout and a tanned leather cape; His green case mask has red tab ears and red tubular nose; Small green teardrop shaped eyes with brown centers are painted within large brown semi-circles that cover most of the face. |
