Round salad or bread and butter sized plate with flat base and very low, flaring sides; Interior and exterior are scraped very smooth, coated with a slip and highly burnished; Design band around interior rim is painted in matte black slip and consists of eight contiguous and elongated triangles arranged end to end around the rim, with each side of the triangles being concave, forming a whirling, wave-like design; Center of plate is undecorated; Plate is reduction fired to black-on-black color; Signature "Marie" is incised in script on base. |
