Description | Wrap-around woman's skirt made entirely of narrow strips of pandanus fiber; Warp strands are twined along top, then doubled over and remainder of skirt is woven in open, 2-strand twining, with single row of 3-strand twining along bottom; All edges of skirt are reinforced with bundle of fibers that are coiled wrapped along top, partially wrapped along sides with ends of weft fibers, and stitched on all sides with continuous looped fiber; weft fibers are in several natural and dyed colors for decorative effect. | |
