Description | Small cylindrical basket with round base and slightly flaring walls, woven primarily in closed plain twining with regularly spaced rows of exposed, crossed warps on the sides; Warp and weft material is rye grass stems; Designs on sides of basket are woven of worsted wool yarn in false embroidery technique and consist of single red dots in each closed plain twined band, arranged in vertical columns, and band of regularly spaced red and blue bars just below rim; Warp and weft fibers are braided together for approx. 3.5 cm beyond rim finish; Possible cross-shaped weaver's mark woven of dyed brown weft fibers on base. | |
