Description | Basket woven in the shape of a handleless tea cup, with short footed base and rounded but flaring sides; Basket is woven primarily in closed plain twining with single row of 3-strand twining at juncture of base and side and 3 additional rows regularly spaced on upper sides of basket for structural support; Designs on upper sides are woven of worsted wool yarn in false embroidery technique and consist of single row bands, one between adjacent rows of 3 strand twining; Lowest band alternates blocks of color in red and green (and possibly yellow); Center band is all red; Uppermost band alternates wide blocks of color in purple and red. | |
