Description Oval shaped mask carved from single piece of wood; Eyes and mouth are represented by narrow, lozenge-shaped slits; 3-dimensional nose is pierced by 2 nostril holes; Traces of black pigment suggest possible triangular tattoos at corner of mouth; Small hole along each side for original attachment of string or thong; Similar to mask in collection of National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Catalog #A348825.
