Description Stool (or possible small table) carved from a single piece of very dense wood; Base of stool is a thick, round disk, upon which two carved figures of monkeys stand on the edge facing away from each other, each supporting on its head the top of the stool which is another thick disk, similar to the base; Upper surface and sides of the top disk are shallowly carved with intricate geometric patterns (round spirals, series of half-circles, etc.) and show traces of having been filled with lime originally; Similar designs decorate the monkeys’ bodies and the upper surface of the base.
