| Description | Carrying bag woven in 2/2 plaited technique; Basket begins as rectangular mat and corners are then gathered together and woven up the sides; Ends of warps and wefts are left extending at side seams as fringe; Changes in plaiting sequences yield geometric patterns over surface of bag; At rim, some fibers are folded over and continue in opposite direction while others are woven back into rim to form zigzag edge; 3 strand braided carrying strap is attached at each end of purse. | |
