Description Deep round basket with wide flat base, rounded sides, inward sloping shoulder and very wide round mouth; Corresponding round lid is nearly flat with short lip and small central knob handle; Basket and lid are woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is rye grass stems and weft material is rye grass leaves; Basket itself is undecorated; Secondary weft material used for embroidered designs on lid include dyed (red and maroon) raffia grass leaves and red, purple, and black wool yarn; Designs include diamond shapes woven entirely of raffia and star shapes woven of both raffia and wool; Central knob handle on lid is woven (or covered) with crocheted white string cover.
