| Description | Deep, round basket with flat base and rounded, flaring sides rising to a very wide mouth, woven in close-coiled technique over a bundle foundation; Warp material is split cattail stems and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and include solid black circular area in center of base, encircled by two plain black bands; Series of three concentric and asymmetrical parallelograms make up a motif that is repeated 4 times around sides of basket, alternating with an elongated, asymmetrical vertical bar; Final rim coil is coil-wrapped in alternating will and devil's claw fibers. | |
