Description | Round plaque with domed center, woven entirely in wicker technique; Warp material is common dune broom stems and weft material is rabbitbrush stems; Basket start shows a technique that was little used after ca. 1930; Most warp rods are clipped at rim and remaining ones are bent over and incorporated into bundle at rim that is coil-wrapped with dyed black yucca leaves; Design consists of series of light and dark concentric bands, each of which originally contained a geometric pattern of contrasting color; At least three different colors (white, black,and orange) are evident. | |
