Description | Round basket with flat base and widely flaring sides, woven in coiling technique on 3-rod foundation; Warp material is whole willow shoots and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw and include a black circular area in center, encircled by 4 small open floral petals followed by 4 larger petals, the sides of which are made up of stacked checkerboard triangles; Larger petal motifs extend to the rim and each one contains a standing deer motif; Areas between adjacent large petals each contain a standing human figure; Final rim coil is woven entirely in black devil's claw. | |
