Description | Flat round plaque woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is galleta grass stems and primary weft material is sun-bleached split yucca leaves; Designs are woven of natural yellow and dyed black split yucca leaves and consist of single large image of Crow Mother, whose dress and large headdress wings at side of head are black, while remainder of headdress is largely yellow or combination of natural white and yellow; Figure also wears traditional wedding sash around her waist; Figure is flanked on either side by large terraced V-shaped motif in black and yellow, probably depicting clouds; Small yucca wrapped suspension loop is woven in final rim coil at top of plaque. | |
