Description | Hand carved rectangular wooden box with removable slat lid that slides in narrow grooves; Interior of box is carved into two adjacent compartments that extend the entire length of the box and contain several pieces of ochre (?), at least 5 small bundles of commercial cloth strips that probably contain pigments, and a bundle of thread (bundles have not been open to ascertain exact contents); Handwritten paper note in box identifies it as a "Chippewa make-up box, Tower [Mn]." | |
